Is the Asus Nexus 7 a good buy?

Plus points being the price, processor and Android Jelly Bean.

What are the cons, if any?

I see that as an advantage

I'll add lack of 3g in something that's so reliant on the cloud though

Yes, but 3G would lift it to an entirely different price category.
But you have a point - especially since it is obviously targeting the Kindle fans - not the iPadiatricians. And 3G Kindle's come with FREE webz... (well, we don't know if that will be true for a Euro Fire....)

I wish all tabs copied what Archos has been doing for a while: include a proper port for a USB dongle.

Lack of storage expandability
Arguably screen size
For the mad or those with specific purpose a lack of rear camera
possible lack of video output
for matt bezel size
for htc that they will never shift those tablets now.

I'd add: it runs Android. :p

But I'm not biased, so I take that back.

Seen one comment on hukd that says it doesn't work with mhl cables for hdmi either, looking bleak on video out

Actually the touch one doesn't include web on 3g only book buying and maybe wiki. Definitely wouldn't be true for a fire.

Yeah but they do seem to have a lot of problems with those ports. This could hit Archos hard.
