Asus Nexus 7 shipping today?

Asus Nexus 7 shipping today? The Asus Nexus 7 was officially unveiled just over two weeks ago, and we were told to expect the tablet to start shipping around mid-July.

Well, according to our calendar, it’s now mid-July, and various reports suggest a few lucky punters might receive their Asus Nexus 7s in the post today. Maybe.

Officially, Google is remaining fairly tight-lipped, with no specific date yet mentioned. Over on Google Play, you can still “pre-order” an Asus Nexus 7, and it’s expected to ship in a vague “1-2 weeks”.

However, Ebuyer gave some customers hope when it fired out shipping notifications promising delivery today – Friday 13.

Having said that, the site has since updated to reveal: “We are expecting this item on 19 Jul 2012”. It’s not clear what that means for the aforementioned shipping notifications, as those Asus Nexus 7s appeared to be in transit already.

Did you pre-order an Asus Nexus 7 from Ebuyer? Any sign of your little bundle of joy?

I understand from some of the posts on xda-developers.com that the Ebuyer ones are beginning to arrive at their lucky owners homes today (Fri 13th Jul). I'm one of the unlucky ones who ordered from Google Play the day the pre-orders opened and I have just been told by a Google play assistant that he 'guessed' I would have my Nexus 7 'by the end of next week'.

yes - mine arrived today from ebuyer!

I also pre-ordered with Google play and have heard nothing yet. If I don't hear anything by the end of the day I'll cancel the order. I'll then wait until someone actually has it in stock or something better comes along.

Pondlife  Jul. 13, 2012 at 12:50

I think ebuyer might get their stock a bit slower in future

I think if Google doesn't ship to orders on their own site I may ship this thing right back.

they won't let you cancel now. They'll say it's too late I know people that have tried.

I spoke to Google customer service about an hour ago. They did start shipping Wed and Thur. According to them, All of shipments are labeled and UPS is taking truckloads of them. They claim that UPS had taken the maximum possible the past two days. You will get a notification WHEN UPS scans them into their system. Just about everyone that ordered on the 27th Should get notification by today.

Google can't give you an update until UPS sends them the scanning results.

I've also pre-ordered one from Google Play, no news for shipping at all. So envy you guys who already got your N7 from ebuyer :(

greg2607  Jul. 13, 2012 at 15:35

are you guys based in the US or the UK???

Andy247  Jul. 13, 2012 at 15:36

Mine arrived this morning too, it's a great piece of kit from first impressions, but obviously need a bit more time to have a proper play about with it.

UK, why?

cyberlarson  Jul. 13, 2012 at 15:38

Andy, what day did you order it? Did you get a UPS notice?

Glenner49  Jul. 13, 2012 at 15:52

Does the Nexus 7 have the ability to transfer audio/video to TV via the mini-usb port?

emptybee  Jul. 13, 2012 at 15:55

Noticed that pcworld.co.uk has brought forward their expected date to 16th. Yet still no word from Google as to when I can expect my order... I've sent two very angry emails and to clarify its not because I'm getting my order after others (I'm not that worried about not being first), it's that I paid an additional £9.99 to get it after others! Suggested Google would be wise to refund the delivery charge for all pre-orders given that ebuyer have delivered before them. Also £9.99 is unacceptably high for two-day delivery, only paid it as ordered on 28th June and at the time it was thought that Google Play Store would be the only outlet.

Congratulations to all who have got theirs already though, once batteries are charged etc. can you let us know here what your first impressions are? Any noticeable omissions or bugs? What is the best app you have installed so far?

Thanks,

mtb

Looks like only ebuyer purchases shipped today in uk, guessing they weren't using UPS.

greg2607  Jul. 13, 2012 at 15:57

because I'm in the UK and was wandering whether these deliveries were only taking place in the US. I pre-ordered on the 28th June, but haven't had anything in terms of shipping notice etc. #impatient.

Stelph  Jul. 13, 2012 at 15:58

To all the owners out there, can you list the apps that come as standard?

Specifically, does Jelly Bean come with the Google video editor? It appeard in Honeycomb on the Xoom but im not sure if its a standard app now for Google or not, and all the reviews are rubbish at mentioning apps that come on the blinking thing.

Currenly I am using my iPad for video and (occasionally) photo editing, so if i jump to a Nexus 7 itd have to be for an equally good app as iMovie but with the better codec support of Android

Glenner49  Jul. 13, 2012 at 16:03

Thank you Stelph. So no definitive answer on the TV transfer? How can I easily confirm?

no

Thus far only in the uk and not from google play sales. Barely morning delivery hours in US may see deliveries there later I guess but thinking that ebuyer jumped the gun on this one.
