The original Asus Padfone took so long to hit shelves, and did such a great job of slinking into the shadows, that many of you were surprised to hear that a successor was confirmed. Was the original even released? It was indeed.
The official Asus Padfone 2 launch is scheduled for tomorrow, October 16, and in the meantime a selection of purportedly official renders has leaked.
The Asus Padfone 2 renders reveal a teardrop design for the smartphone component, which weighs in at 4.7in (compared to the original’s 4.3in).
The smartphone is also now entirely visible when docked in the tablet shell, having previously been hidden behind a hinged door with a cheeky hole for the camera.
Other Asus Padfone 2 specs are tipped to include a 13MP rear camera, and a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Of course, they’re both housed in the 4.7in smartphone component.
The tablet component of the Asus Padfone 2, meanwhile, is expected to remain at 10.1in, same as the original.
We expect the Asus Padfone 2 will also have an optional keyboard dock and stylus doubling as a Bluetooth headset. Phew.
We’ll have official Asus Padfone 2 specs for y’all tomorrow.
