The Asus PadFone smartphone/tablet hybrid is the joke that just keeps on giving. First we laughed at the original Asus PadFone, raised our eyebrows when they followed up with the PadFone 2, and now we’re well and truly astounded to meet the third entry in the series.
I speak of the Asus PadFone Infinity, and – as you might expect – it grabs the baton from the PadFone 2 and ups the specs in almost every way.

The original Asus Padfone is currently going for £689.99, with the keyboard dock, over at Expansys. Bargain (says the guy who spent £700 on an iPhone 5). I wonder if anyone in the country bought one.
In any case, Asus has told us to leave October 16 free for the Padfone 2 launch, and – surprise, surprise – the specs have now been leaked in advance. Well, supposedly.

We thought we were pretty much done with all these product launches (it’s been a crazy few weeks), and were reluctantly about to settle into pre-CES hibernation.
However, Taiwanese manufacturer Asus still has a cheeky treat up its sleeve. It’s holding a launch party – two parties, in fact – for the Asus Padfone 2 on October 16. Boom!

After four days and what feels like a lifetime of grueling 10-hour shifts, Mobile World Congress 2012 is almost over.
As the world’s phone and tablet manufacturers (minus Apple, of course) begin to tear down their many, many stalls (there’s a genuinely ludicrous number of companies here), it’s time for the obligatory review of the show. Best Mobile World Congress ever or waste of freakin’ time?
