Asus Taichi unveiled: Windows 8 laptop/tablet hybrid with two screensYou have to hand it to Asus. When it comes to thinking outside the proverbial box, few other manufacturers can touch them.

Straight outta Computex in Taipei, we’re learning of something called the Asus Taichi, essentially a Windows 8-based laptop/tablet hybrid. Has the term “laptab” been coined yet? You heard it here first. Maybe.

Physically, the Asus Taichi looks like your bog standard laptop, with a keyboard and a screen and that.

Both displays boast a sexy resolution of 1920 x 1080, with IPS technology offering clear viewing from many an angle.

Other Asus Taichi specs include an Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM, two USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI and a mini DisplayPort.

The Asus Taichi will be available in two flavours, namely 11.6in and 13.3in. No word on price or release date just yet, but we’ll let you know just as soon as we do.
