Asus teases Eee Pad Transformer 2

Asus teases Eee Pad Transformer 2Asus boasted that the original Eee Pad Transformer was the biggest selling of the non-iPads, and its successor – predictably thought to be called the Eee Pad Transformer 2 – is expected to land pretty soonish.

The Taiwanese manufacturer is teasing the tablet world with a 22-second YouTube video, entitled The Next Transformation. I think it’s pretty safe to say that means Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2.

There’s not a whole lot to take from the brief teaser, though the footage does linger on a rear camera with flash, and detachable keyboard with USB port.

Pricing has been rumoured as low as $399, with Asus making most of its profit from the keyboard accessory. The original Eee Pad Transformer goes for around £360, with the keyboard costing an extra £100ish.

CEO Jerry Shen says the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 is coming soon with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) goodness, and there are persistent rumours of a quad-core Nvidia Kal-El processor. Cripes.

4 shops in my area have had the original Transformer in stock for 6 months. They haven't sold 1. I'd really like to see the real sales figures ;)
