It hasn't been Asus' finest hour - unveiling the Transformer Prime tablet/netbook hybrid to replace the previous Transformer TF101 and then handling it with about as much grace as a dead cow.
But if you're holding out for the recently announced replacement, you'll have a good wait. June is now the expected shipping date - and that's at the earliest - according to Asus' blog.
The Transformer Prime has barely been out a week or so, but it's been dogged by complaints of a weak GPS chip. Asus itself has sort-of acknowledged that there is a problem by offering to extend the guarantees and letting consumers return them for a full refund if they're not happy.
Quite why they unveiled a new model just as the Transformer Prime was going on sale is beyond us - strategically, it probably wasn't the smartest move since it'll have no doubt harmed sales of what is a unit already dogged by bad PR.
Anyway, onto the specs and the newcomer, the Asus Transformer Prime TF700 gets a better display (resolution of 1920 x 1200), improved camera with a 2MP snapper now on the front and a slightly redesigned chassis.
Expect to pay about £599 for the tablet with keyboard dock though it's not an exact figure and more of a guestimate. And that's if you ever manage to get your mitts on one!
