At last month's WWDC it was announced that Apple Pay would be making its way to the UK at some point in July, but we were never given a concrete date. However, the folks over at 9to5Mac have been tipped off that the new contactless payment method will be with us is just over a week's time - on July 14th, to be exact.
The news has emerged thanks to leaked images of memos meant for the staff of high street retailers. The letters and guides explain how Apple Pay will work, how both the iPhone and Apple Watch will be compatible, and confirmed the already announced spending limit of £20 per transaction. As previously reported at WWDC, Apple claim there will be 250,000 locations that will accept the payment method, including McDonalds, Marks & Spencers, and the Post Office. The most notable addition to that list was the London transport network, so those without an Oyster Card can avoid queuing at the machines every time they want to jump on the tube.
If I'm being completely honest, we've seen better deals in the past, but this latest offer from GAME is worth a look if you're desperately after iTunes credit at the moment. All you need to do is put two iTunes cards of £25, £50, or £100 value in your basket, and you'll get 30% off the second card (or the one with the lowest value) when you go to the checkout. So, for example, £50 worth of credit (two £25 cards) will cost £42.50, £75 of credit (a £50 card + £25 card) will cost £67.50, or if you want to go for broke £200 worth of credit (two £100 cards) will cost you £170.
It appears that, yet again, the surprises from Apple are being spoilt ahead of time due to those pesky leaks, with two big reveals potentially spoiled over the last 24 hours. First up is the not-so-surprising existence of the iPhone 6s. It is expected to be officially unveiled this September, but leaked images on 9to5Mac show that the upcoming version of the smartphone will look similar to its predecessor in terms of size and thickness. We suspect the real surprises will be under the hood, but we'll probably have to wait until nearer the time for more details on that front.
However, what we weren’t expecting to see was a new line of iPod devices are on their way. The eagle-eyed folks over on Apple Insider noticed that the latest update for iTunes includes new images of the iPod range, showing three examples – a dark blue iPod Touch, a gold iPod Nano, and a lighter-pink iPod Nano. The new image also suggests that these new versions of the iPod Touch will be releasing on July 14th. Considering how Apple haven’t been making much noise on the MP3-playing-device that once dominated the market – especially after they officially killed off the iPod Classic last year – the move is unexpected to say the least, but with the release date allegedly just a few weeks away we expect to learn more in the very near future.
These offers have been around since last Friday, but in case you haven't seen you can save big on several games from 2K on both the iTunes and Google Play stores. The list of games is actually full of quality titles as well, with the excellent XCOM: Enemy Within, FPS masterpiece BioShock, and sports title NBA 2K15 getting reductions. Annoyingly, not all of them are available for Android, but what is available is slightly cheaper. So, swings and roundabouts. Independence
Hit the jump for the full list of the games along with their prices and direct links to them.

Generally speaking it's a good idea to keep your version of Adobe Flash up to date (along with Java, for that matter) but it appears that many people around the world are currently vulnerable to the latest exploit doing the rounds. Two exploit kits, named Angler and Magnitude, contain the ability to deploy ransomware onto a PC, forcing the user to hand over money to regain control. The exploit was fixed by Adobe last week, but it turns out that there are a large proportion of computers that have not updated to the latest version (probably because of the constant pop-ups that annoy everyone.)
As pointed out by the fine folks at Bitter Wallet, Chrome users will have Flash updated to the latest version, but everyone else will need to update manually. You can check to see if you have the latest version of Flash by clicking here. If you aren't up to date, or just want to make sure, you can get the latest version of Flash by heading over to the Adobe Flash download page.
These portable charging units may not be the ones you're looking for, but you'll never be on the dark side again with these MimoPowertube Star Wars themed Powerbanks. Priced at £16.99, you can save 10% by using the voucher code MIMO at the checkout. There are eight different designs on offer, such as a various lightsabers and characters from the franchise, such as Yoda, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader.
With a capacity of 2600mAh it should be able to provide most smartphones with a full charge, and it comes with its own set of adapters to fit most phones (although it can charge any fully operational device that uses a USB cable to recharge.) I would apologise for the punnage in this post, but you can now rest easy knowing that I won't force any more on you today.
Here's an ideal offer for those of you looking to upgrade the hard drive in your computer or laptop. It's not by much, but the listing on eBuyer is the cheapest deal available at the time of writing. With read speeds of 480MB/s and write speeds of 380MB/s, it makes for an ideal hard drive for your OS or for programs that require fast speeds (like audio / video work.) You could even use if for gaming if you wanted to cut down those load times by a few seconds. Thanks to topss @ HUKD!
CDKeys may usually feature deals for the latest games (which are regularly highlighted over on Dealspwn) but here's a listing that's more relevant to our interests here on Mobot. For under £20 you can get a £25 gift card for iTunes if you get hold of the 5%-off code via Facebook. You'll save yourself £6 overall, which is a fine saving to put towards filling up your Apple product with more music, films and Apps.
Not content with making Apple Watch users pretend to be Dick Tracy, it looks like Apple are going to be taking file sharing to strange new places, if their latest patent is to be believed. The folks over at Patently Apple have discovered that there are some new gestures being created for the Apple Watch specifically for sharing data with others with the wearable tech.
If it all turns out to be true, you can expect tech enthusiasts to start shaking hands more frequently, bowing to each other, and even taking the double high-five back as they business cards with each other. There's even mention of "fist bumping", which should no doubt keep all the bros happy. In fairness, it's all just an extension of the Near Field Communication technology that has been around for years, but at least Apple are having some fun with it.
If you're after a high-speed USB drive to back-up your files, this offer from Dabs is worth a look. It beats the next cheapest deal elsewhere by around a fiver overall. In fact, it's the cheapest 1TB external hard drive available at the time of writing. While you don't need a USB 3.0 port to use it, you'll get much better data transfer speeds if you do (up to 5.0 Gbps.)
This listing isn't the lowest we've seen the Hudl 2 fall to, and the voucher code involved is meant for "new customers only" (although there are ways around that... oh, hello new account!) but it is the cheapest price around by about £15. Just use the voucher code XXPTHN during the checkout phase for the price mentioned above. As for the device itself, the Hudl 2 is one of the better Android tablets in its price range. Its poor battery life and occasionally sluggish UI do mar the experience, but for the price (especially with this deal) it's easier to forgive its foibles. Thanks to thedealhunter2 @ HUKD!
The title of this post pretty much says it all, but here's some more on the topic anyway. Senior director of Apple Music Ian Rogers announced on his own blog that Apple's new app will be launching on June 30th as soon as iOS 8.4 is released. The music streaming service and the Beats One radio station will launch an hour later. While a three-month trial will be available, it will cost £9.99 a month for the streaming service with a family package for 4 people available at £15 a month. Don't worry if you have no plans to subscribe though, as Beats One will be free to everyone who uses the updated app. You can learn more about Apple Music by reading our round-up of its announcement at this year's WWDC.
The Album of the Week promotion on the Google Play store is back, and this time it's asking for just 99p for Alicia Keys' 2012 album Girl On Fire. It might not be to everybody's tastes, but if you're in the mood for some critically praised RnB tracks and piano-fueled ballads you're in the right place. Thanks to Nemeus @ HUKD!
The price continues to fall for the Galaxy S6, with this listing on Amazon being the best offer around. he lack of expandable memory and removeable battery is something of a downer, but otherwise the Galaxy S6 boasts impressive specs that are only just beaten by the Edge. It may well be a pricey investment, but as one of the best Android handsets out right now it's certainly worth the price. Thanks to mkmiah @ HUKD!
While this isn't the best price we've seen for the LG G4, this offer from Virgin Mobile is certainly one of the best around at the time of writing. What makes this offer really good value is the inclusion of a free LG Watch urbane, which retails at £259. You can learn more about it by reading the LG Watch Urbane review on Wareable.
Reviews for the G4 have been largely positive so far, praising its screen, camera, battery life and overall performance, making it a worthy alternative to other flagship Android devices like the Samsung S6 or the HTC One M9. Be quick if you're interested though, as there is limited availability for this offer. Thanks to andy182 @ HUKD!
Here's a fantastic deal if you're in need of some cheap portable storage. The offer from 7DayShop is the cheapest around, and even beats some listings for the 32GB version. With it being USB 3.0 you're guaranteed fast transfer speeds as well, so for under £12 it's a fantastic deal. Thanks to goonertillidie @ HUKD!
If you're looking for a bit of platforming fun on your Apple device, or perhaps want some more LEGO in your life, you might be interested to know that LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is now available for purchase over on the iTunes store for £3.99. Containing the usual insane level of collectables and unlockable characters, this instalment in the LEGO Batman series explores the greater DC universe. It also includes Adam West who brings the retro Batman into the mix. Head over to sister site Dealspwn to read the review of the console version for more details.
Here's another chance to get hold of this bundle with some cashback. It's worth pointing out that this offer is only available to new customers only, but if you're interested in switching over to Virgin Media this offer is definitely worth investigating. The Big Daddy package includes 152Mb broadband, 260+Channels, Sky Movies, Sky Sports, and Talk Unlimited Extra phone tariff. If you order it today (June 25th) you'll also get a free speaker worth £129 thrown in as well.
The Big Daddy bundle costs £79.99 a month for the first 12 months, and then costs £101.50 after that. By getting this package through Quidco, you'll be able to get £250 cashback, which considering you'll be paying £959.88 for the first year is a mighty fine saving. For more details on how the cashback works by heading over to the Quidco website.
Here's yet another free Android game on the Amazon Appstore, this time for indie hit Monument Valley. Praised for its artistic approach and well designed puzzles, it was one of the biggest mobile titles of last year. If there was a complaint to be had, it was that the length of the game was fairly short, but with it currently being free to download that issue is well and truly gone.
Considering this is normally priced £8.02 on the Google Play store, this is a fantastic price for the standalone sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown. You can read a review of the PC version (from which the mobile version is ported) over on sister site Dealspwn, but a quick overview is that Enemy Within continues the story of the XCOM project defending the earth in turn-based strategic action - this time from, as the name suggests, enemies within humanity. If you're after a deep, often challenging, but very rewarding strategy title for your Android smartphone, you won't get much better for under £4. Thanks to inquisiter @ HUKD!
