Auto-update Facebook and other iOS apps?

Is there an option to have certain iOS apps like Facebook auto-update? It's really tedious going in and manually updating I find.

cakewalk,
iTunes on your iOS device shows a badge when there are updates. It's then 2 taps to install.
That is convenient compared to auto-updating and then finding out that the new app version no longer has a feature you liked, or added something you do not want, or has bugs.

As in the thread pondlife linked to: read the "what's new" paragraph BEFORE you update. See if there are loads of recent 1-star ratings for an app that used to score an average of 4+...
Another issue: imagine that update comes at a time when you have a poor signal. What's the priority: getting a possibly useless update or getting your push email, or watching the vid you were just streaming without interruptions?
Why would you want that when the update is just to make the app iPhone 5 compatible when you have an iPhone 4?

Quite a few more taps on ios5 though as you have to log in each time..
But yeah with no chance to go back to previous version autoupdate seems bad idea on ios.

Well, there is, if you backed up with iTunes or iCloud and deleted the new version before the new sync. But you're right. And yes: the constant signing in is ludicrous.

Ah that's better than nothing I guess, but then you wouldn't know to back up before an autoupdate...
