Is it bad for my iPhone 4S battery to do a partial charge?

Is it bad to do a partial charge on the iPhone 4S battery? For example, if it's half full and I plug into my MacBook for a while to transfer music? I almost feel obliged to let it recharge fully!

I wouldn't worry about it. at all.
My friends old 3 goes through all sorts of partial charges, rarely gets fully charged or run down and still appears to have better battery life than his current 4s.

Nope, it's fine as long as you fully charge it every now and again. None of my phones showed any ill effect doing this and I've done this to my MacBook Pro for 3 years and Coconut battery is still showing 91% total capacity, which is damn good for 590 cycles.

Agree with above. Moreover, you can always replace iPhone 4 battery. It's very easy compared to iPhone 3 and does not require technical knowledge. Videos are on youtube.
