I used to live in Barcelona for a bit, and returned in February this year for Mobile World Congress. What does that have to do with anything? Well, Orange has only gone and announced a new phone called the Barcelona.
Of course, this isn’t the first phone Orange has named after a major city. There’s also the massively popular, Android-rocking Orange San Francisco, and the QWERTY-toting Orange Rio. This new guy fits somewhere in between.
Like the Orange San Francisco, the Orange Barcelona - or "Barcelona from Orange" as the network repeatedly calls it - will run Android 2.2 (Froyo); like the Orange Rio, it’ll have a QWERTY keyboard below its touchscreen.
There’s no mention of resolution amid the Orange Shop blurb, but we do know the "Barcelona from Orange" will have a 2.6in TFT screen. There’s also a 3.2MP camera on the rear (hey, that’s identical to the Orange San Francisco too).
No word on pricing or a release date just yet, but Orange assures us the Barcelona is “coming soon” to both pay monthly and PAYG.
