Should I let my battery run down to almost 0% before charging?

You only really need to do this once, when you first get your phone. After that, you should feel free to charge and discharge as you like. Modern batteries handle anything you throw at them. Worth remembering that if your battery does drain to zero, give it some power as soon as you can though.

As Blizz said, you only need to do this once, when the device is brand new. Tbh though, I never bother (I'm too impatient) and it's never harmed any of my devices. Modern Li-Ion batteries are tough cookies, they can put up with a lot of abuse and no real charging schedule or style.

Seldom find it difficult to get battery down low, but given that many of my devices plead to be plugged in way before zero seems unlikely to be an issue.
