There’s plenty for sports fans to get their teeth into this summer, with Euro 2012, Wimbledon, and – as if you could bloomin’ forget – the London Olympics.
You can now watch all that stuff and more on your mobile phone or tablet, via 3G or Wi-Fi, thanks to the relaunched BBC Sport mobile site.
BBC Sport mobile contains clips of past events, and will feature live streams of stuff that ain’t even on the telebox. Come the London Olympics in July, the BBC promises up to 24 simultaneous live streams.
“Audience research shows that users are increasingly looking to the web on the go, getting the content they want when, and where, they want it,” purrs Lucie McLean, senior product manager in BBC Future Media.
“Huge numbers of people already enjoy live and demand video on their desktop, at home or office, and text and data services on their mobile. By offering video across mobile devices we aim to give sport fans the complete picture wherever they are.”
You can check out BBC Sport mobile content with iOS 5.0 and above, and Android 2.2 (Froyo) or higher.
Unfortunately, the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) standard used by BBC Sport mobile isn’t compatible with Windows Phone. We’ll have good news for you 2% one day, honest.
