It's not like many people are going to use it anyway, I don't know anyone who still uses BBM.

That's cause you're not 'with it'! :p

I have owned, ahem, a few BBs and never used BBM!

To be honest, besides work emails, my main text based form of communication is, well, texting...maybe that makes me old fashioned :|?

Same here.

Well, that makes two of us...only several hundred million more people to convert back to the "good old days".

Well I still think with the right commercial push BBM could take over from Whatsapp assuming its a) free and b) an equivalent level of usability, everyone knows about BBM and I think everyone considers it to be a good service with rock solid security (as all the stories about how the police couldnt see the messages being sent during the london riots showed)

Depends, some plans include it or charge no extra for BB devices.

Only pre BB10... And not on all networks. With BB10 they got rid of the requirement for a BIS add-on, so I asume the same is true for Android/iOS ports.

BB have already said BBM will be free for iOS and Android.
