According to “sources with knowledge of the negotiations”, RIM is said to have seduced one of the Big Four (Universal, Sony, EMI and Warner), with two more reportedly close to climbing on board.
Nothing more has been said with regards to how the service will work, though a test version of BBM Music could be rolled out within the next few weeks. Exciting stuff.
Last month we heard that BBM Music was expected to arrive soon after BlackBerry App World 3.0. Apparently there’s some focus on sharing; for every 50 tracks you share with friends, you can receive 50. Or something.
Will BBM Music be enough to keep RIM in the OS game? iOS and Android are utterly dominant at present, and Windows Phone 7 is about to make a strong play for third place (or beyond)…
More details as and when, peeps.
