Any big mobile announcements left in 2012?

Now that the iPhone 5 is here, and everyone else (Nokia, Motorola, Samsung) rushed to make announcements before it, is that us done till CES and MWC now?

Well there's an HTC one next week if that counts.

And since Nokia actually haven't shown WP8 but rather 'just' their own features, the October launch of Windows Phone 8 certainly counts.

That's Windows Phone only I take it though. Android event is normally early in the new year.

Assume so, depends how desperate they are getting maybe

There's still rumblings about a possible Nexus handset this year. It's looking increasingly unlikely as time goes on though - something more concrete has usually turned up by now so it was probably just speculation.

Still seems likely I'd say.

There is the Edge to Edge Motorola and Intel thing but seems like they've given game away on that and it's RAZR m with intel. Could be interesting at right price I guess, M does seem ok

I'd be shocked if any of the phones left to launch in 2012 sell 1,000,000 units in their lifetime, therefore none of them are really "big" launches (when you consider how many units the: iP5, S3 and Note 2 will shift).

The only possible exception would be a Nexus phone, but since we've heard basically nothing, I guess that's not happening in 2012 (that and Jelly Bean is still brand new,
Nexus device = new OS version).

You're right... although - I reckon the Lumia 920 is gonna sell very well during the Christmas season, actually. Unless they pack in some major bugs, that is. It may stall then, but it'll easily sell 3-4 million. I have zero doubt.

I meant "announced", not "launched". Sorry, my bad. Also, I agree with you re the Lumia 920.

New WP8 handsets late Oct/November; iPhone 5 in a week or two - 4S reduced (not to mention a gazillion now sold 2nd hand), SGS3 selling brilliantly; Note 2 almost out... launching anything else before January? LOL

Maybe rim were right to delay then? ;)
£50 less on i4s doesn't seem enough sim free at least they didn't knock it down to 8gb I guess.

JanSt / MOD  Sep. 16, 2012 at 15:45

Yes, but pondlife... most phones won't be bought sim-free.

Pondlife  Sep. 16, 2012 at 16:07

Guess not but doubt they'll be giving them away much cheaper that way than they were either.
Besides only know of 3 people getting it so far on here and all 3 are sim free. :D

Hardcore techies buy stuff SIM free (and make most noise), the majority of sales come from average people who buy on contract.
