How big are mobile apps and games?

Shopping around for my first smartphone and wondering how big apps and games usually are?

Depends... from 500kb to 2 GB (heavy games for iOS & Android)...
Games like Temple Run eg 30-40MB... 3rd-party browsers around 10MB... photo editing 2-30MB (or more e.g. Photoshop Touch)...

If you use a lot of apps you want at least 32GB if there's no SD-card support.
I have a 16GB Nokia N9 - I get by, but I don't use many apps, and I don't store many videos.

I have no idea what size WP apps are these days....

More than 2gb is definitely possible. Bards Tale was over 3gb iirc. That said not sure I'd run that on a phone...

Would think that where available the size for wp games would be similar to same ones on the other os.

Not necessarily... E.g, Opera Mobile on Android is twice the size of the WinMo, Symbian and MeeGo versions... I also noticed big differences on BB7 to, say, Android or iOS.

But those apps are presumably trivial sizes anyway.

True... But then, so is some phones' internal memory.

Jan, are you talking about runtime memory or installed app size?
The two can vary wildly.
