Big screen – HTC Desire HD or Samsung Galaxy S II?

I really want a smartphone with a big 4.3in screen. Should I get an HTC Desire HD, or the brand new Samsung Galaxy S 2? Also like the sound of the NFC on the S2 too

Wait until publishes review for Galaxy - It should be later today.
Desire HD has very short battery life with Android 2.2. They are releasing update to 2.3 in few days and that might fix battery problems as custom ROM do not have it.
Pricing on those phones is quite different - Desire is 150 quid cheaper.
Hold off until reviews are out.

The Galaxy S II blows the Desire HD away. It's better in almost every regard. However, the HTC Sensation is worth looking into for a 4.3" phone. It doesn't have the awesome Super AMOLED plus screen and it's noticeably thicker than the S 2, but it does have qHD resolution (which makes for better web browsing and movie viewing) and HTC Sense.

@blizzard7 Check your facts, the Desire HD does not have a qHD display at all, it's 480x800. The only HTC available in the UK with a qHD screen is the Sensation. The SGS2 also has a 480x800 display.
