Why don't they make bigger batteries?

Is it just because the phones would be a bit heavier and thicker? I for one wouldn't mind!

In addition to the above, part of the problem is that battery tech tends to advance very slowly whereas phones have been racing ahead with faster processors and GPUs, larger screens and more and more components to provide juice to like WiFi, accelerometers, GPS, sensors etc. so it's been a slippery slope from phones that last weeks to phones that last hours.
