Blackberry Messanger, help needed please!

I'm on the network Orange/EE..

Ok, so I got my Blackberry 8520 in 2011 at Christmas, and I got it on contract.. Now I'm not sure if the term 'contract' is different where some of you people are, but it means I got my phone cheaper as I used a SIM card off my old phone.. When I got my 8520 my brother set my BBM up for me, since then I never had to pay for my BBM, it never seemed to run out.. But now it has for some odd reason, so I got a £5 top-up but I had excess money left over leaving £8.42 on my phone.. My brother then set up my BBM once again yesterday at 2:11pm.. He texted 450 'Start bb' then I got a text message replying stating 'If you have recently increased your balance to over £5, your Blackberry service will be automatically activated within the next 24 hours.' It's now the next day, 1:41pm and still no sign of BBM..

If network/signal has anything to do with this I'm at home and I have no signal here, only WIFI..

Should I wait until the full 24 hours are up or do something?
Thanks!

Pre-BB10 you need a gsm signal to set up BBM/BIS services. It's activated with a service pushmessage and it IS LINKED to your sim! No signal, no BBM setup ;)

That doesnt answer his question though does it really? He's asking what does he need to do and since I'm in the same predicament and actually will ask...What do I need to do when I've received this text?

That doesnt answer his question though does it really? He's asking what does he need to do and since I'm in the same predicament and actually will ask...What do I need to do when I've received this text? I think you mis-read the OP's post. Lets start at the beginning: s/he has a problem. Said problem is that s/he has only WiFi. My answer is correct and to the point.
Your problem is what? What text are you talking about? Is that in reference to the 'push message' I mentioned? That is a service message. It's not an sms. Also, it may vary from network to network.
Have you received any message? Did your BB go through setup and activation?
What network are you on? What OS?
