It took me a few moments to get my head around this spectacular graph from comScore’s MobiLens, but it’s really quite a treat. It shows that BlackBerry owners are the most loyal to their brand in the UK, even more so than iPhone owners.
Apparently customers with BlackBerry phones were most likely to stick with their chosen manufacturer when upgrading.
Over a three-month period ending July, a whopping 69.9% of BlackBerry owners opted for another BlackBerry when it came time to upgrade. Apple wasn’t too far behind with 65.2% of upgraders going for another iPhone, while HTC managed a respectable 48.1%.
At the opposite end of the scale, it’s a depressing story for Sony Ericsson. A mere 22.5% of Sony Ericsson owners chose to stay with the manufacturer when choosing a new phone. A significant 18.3% jumped ship to HTC, while 14.3% opted for an iPhone.
As the good folks at CrackBerry point out, the release of BlackBerry 7 could potentially see RIM loyalty rise even higher. Vodafone UK has reportedly run out of stock of the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900.
Good stuff. I like graphs.
