Well, rimbo, I guess yes: Bold 9900 certainly seems to get better reviews than the Torches. Battery is still bearable though not the normal. urve/Bold lecel. And from what I saw the screen is miles crisper - even though smaller ...

well atm you have a choice of 3.

bold 9900 - 462.22

blackberry torch 9800 349.99

with the torch 9810 coming soon.

bold atm is best but with a price tag to match...

Bold 9900 by a LONG way is the best touchscreen & qwerty BlackBerry. Unfortunately, it's most definitely not the best phone buy you can for the hefty price tag it has.

Treab  Sep. 23, 2011 at 19:11

i dont get it the 9900 is more than the samsung galaxy s2...

for 1.2ghz processor vs 1.2ghz dual core...
768mb ram vs 1gb ram
8gb built in vs 16gb built in
720 video vs 1080p video

am i missing something???
this could be why blackberry is losing money...

Treab  Sep. 23, 2011 at 19:15

but ****... good name mate ;) way to get round the swear filter ;)

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 23, 2011 at 19:20

You forgot:

2.8" of LCD (640x480) vs 4.3" of SAMOLED+ (480x800)
5mp camera vs 8mp camera
Mali 400 GPU vs Adreno 205 (I think).
Can I be cheeky and say, Android 2.3.4 vs BBOS7 hehe :p?

The 9900 does have NFC though, which the SGS2 doesn't have...well that explains it then :p.

Treab  Sep. 23, 2011 at 19:24

i felt it was unfair to discuss the screen size as they are 2 totally different style of phones.

android vs bbos7... hmm no contest WP7.5 it is :D

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 23, 2011 at 19:31

Ok, LCD vs SAMOLED+, that's fair isn't it? I mean c'mon, no-one can say a bog standard LCD is as good as SAMOLED+. Oh and I didn't mean 4.3" is better than 2.8", I just meant it must cost more to make, therefore making the price tag of the 9900 even more ridiculous.

Nah, sod WP7.5, you want the proprietary OS off the Nokia 3310 ;)

Treab  Sep. 23, 2011 at 19:35

naah what i want is windows phone 6 ;)

JanSt / MOD  Sep. 23, 2011 at 21:03

I agree that the Bold 9900 is a bit pricey, but have you seen and held one? I daresay it's the classiest massproduced gadget. And it's not too shabby under the hood for a "work device".
If I WERE a banker I'd buy one for every pocket :p

Treab  Sep. 23, 2011 at 21:05

I have actually they were on display in vodafone the other day :p

but my question would be samsung galaxy s2 (and about £50) vs blackberry bold

ill take the £50 ;)

Treab  Sep. 23, 2011 at 21:05

thats about 500 euros these days ;)

JanSt / MOD  Sep. 23, 2011 at 21:06

PS - I thought the Nokia E6 had a 'nice' quality to it, but since I have used a 9900 the E6 is like some ...some...some other qwerty.

Treab  Sep. 23, 2011 at 21:09

i used a nokia E6 once... then picked up this...

and though jesus this nokia is terribly built...

ddruck  Sep. 24, 2011 at 19:49

erm, that's a SonyEricsson ... lets not go mixing apples with pears please ;-D. IMHO blackberry still have an edge with their email and bbm IM solution. Oh, and there's also apple who will be making their notifications on their phones much better with their new OS...

Treab  Sep. 24, 2011 at 19:51

i can't find a single sony ericsson on this page ;) the pic above is an ericsson phone ;)

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 24, 2011 at 20:03

That's because it's such an old phone, it's just an Ericsson, from before they joined with Sony.

Treab  Sep. 24, 2011 at 20:10

no crap sherlock ;)

still funny as ;)

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 24, 2011 at 20:53

Whatever it is, it's a beast :p. Might swap my S2 for it. Oh and I got outbid for the Samsung Wave, (Bada phone) :(.

Treab  Sep. 24, 2011 at 21:00

course you did. your not a true ebay guru :p

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 24, 2011 at 21:03

I set myself a price, first rule of eBay...don't talk about eBay ;)...nah, but seriously, first rule of eBay, set yourself a limit, never go over that price.

Treab  Sep. 24, 2011 at 21:06

which in your case was what £5.23 ;)

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 24, 2011 at 21:26

Nah £100inc. delivery :( low, I know, but it is only a toy after all. I was pleasantly surprised by how good my £89 touchpad was...I <3 Firesales haha :D

Treab  Sep. 24, 2011 at 21:34

i hope it fails epically :p

matt101101 / MOD  Sep. 24, 2011 at 21:36

I hope it doesn't, for HP's sake, under the warranty terms they'd have to locate me a new one haha :D
