Blackberry Torch..

Hi guys, Im really thinking about getting this phone shortly, but all ive heard are negative comments about it. Two of my friends have it and love it, but the negatives outweigh the positives! Do any of you guys have it? If so what are your experiences with it?

Thanks :)

I can answer you regarding the BB battery, I have this Torch since 2 months ago, the battery always last 4-5 days on standby, and for normal usage, I only charge my phone every 2-3 days. The only drawback that I can find about this Torch is the camera is absolutely appalling, the quality is nowhere near 5MP, especially when I tried to take picture in low-light condition.

Tempted, me. I love the formfactor. Which is why I got a Palm Pre Plus last year...
What concerns me re the Torch is the battery life - apparently it's worse than toay's standard bad.
The BB OS has many nice features. I would try and testdrive one of your friends' Torch. It's you who has to live with the Torch, not the cool reviewers who just love writing off BB and Symbian as obsolete.
Let us know what you think :)

From someone who deals with phones day in day out I would say avoid. Poor battery life, iffy build quality and a possible announcement on a new version next month.

Buy the 9780 instead, same OS, camera and much better battery life. It's basically a souped up version of the 9700.

Not sure where my earlier post from a few days went.
I have a Torch as my work phone and an iPhone for my personal phone. The Torch battery lasts longer, has better call clarity and does n't drop calls like my iPhone 4.
The screen is less scratch resistent than the iPhone and the battery lasts on average twice as long, I only have to charge mine every 3 to 4 days.
I don't agree with the iffy build quality, all the Torches I've seen have been fine.
I agree that the 9780 is a great move forward from the 9700, which is also a solid BlackBerry.
If I had known I'd end up with an iPhone with regular dropped calls, that Vodafone or Apple will not do anything about, I would have waited for the Torch to come out for my personal phone.
Agree that you should test trive one a bit more, to see if the mix of touchscreen and keyboard is ok for you.

So, I ended up getting the Torch in white

I absolutly love it. Made a good decision.. only bad point is that when im on a call, my fat cheek normally puts the call on loudspeaker or on mute. Not sure if theres something to lock the touchpad but we shall see..

all in all, happy with the phone :)
