How old is the BlackBerry Torch?

When did the BlackBerry Torch come out? I don’t want to buy it then find another one comes out soon after!

August 2010. It's latest and greatest BB available right now.

However, considering how much it cost together with weak feature set that it provides I would never buy it.

What is the weak feature set, c-man? :)

Low resolution screen, slow CPU, very limited application selection (plus most do not work at all).

It's only good for phone calls and secure email making it ideal for business due to it's good battery life (not as good as Bold). It's a very secure phone and it can be wiped remotely. Ideal for corporate IT department, but not user.

It's a good phone @ 200, but @ 300+ it's way overpriced.

You're right about the cpu and battery life. And as to apps, yeah, they could have used more touchscreen optimised apps. But as you say, it's more of a show off piece for worker bees. (I do like the form factor, though, and despite its bulk, it feels pretty good when you actually hold it.)
The Blackberry Bold 9780 is probably better overall.

Thanks for the opinions. I still really like it though and might be getting one.

marcoP I'm a bit like that, too. I wouldn't fully recommend it to anyone, but I'm not sure I won't get on at some point?
