Blast Monkeys Android review

Blast Monkeys Android reviewWhy did none of the six million+ people who’ve downloaded Blast Monkeys tell me how freakin’ good it is? I hate you, six million, so very much.

I discovered Blast Monkeys while perusing the Android Market’s Top Free Downloads section the other night. It’s very, very, very, very good. Very.

For the record, Blast Monkeys is available for iOS too, but I just happen to be playing the Android version, which is entirely free. The iOS version is available for free with ads, or 69p without.

Blast Monkeys is admittedly heavy on the “physics”, but I’m not even going to mention Rovio’s modern classic. This bad boy is more like Cut the Rope and iBlast Moki.

In Blast Monkeys, the basic aim is to blast your monkey out of a cannon towards the goal, collecting three strategically placed bananas as you go. Simple.

Simple but furging brilliant.

As you might expect, Blast Monkeys introduces lots of different elements and hazards as you progress, such as moving platforms, spikes and electricity. Helping you towards your goal are bubbles (very Cut the Rope), other cannons, and jet streams.

It’s really difficult to convey just how excellent Blast Monkeys is. Some of the level designs are nothing less than sublime. Getting to the goal is often fairly straight forward, but you’ll have to get your thinking cap on if you want to collect all three of those bananas.

If you do get all three bananas, you’ll receive 15 monkey coins. Save up 300 monkey coins and you can unlock one of the later worlds. There are seven worlds in total, and 25 levels in each. That’s uhm, a lot of levels.

But the fun doesn’t end there. In each world there are five Expert levels. They’re ludicrously hard and will keep you going for ages. I make that 210 levels in total. That’s a lot of bang for your buck, especially considering you can grab Blast Monkeys for free.

  • Sublime level design
  • 210 levels
  • It’s free!

  • No

Summary: Blast Monkeys is an absolute classic, up there with Plants vs Zombies, iBlast Moki and you-know-what.

Have a look at super stick man golf - also free and devilishly addictive.

Hi Lewis. My name is Tobiah, co-founder of Yobonja (the developers of Blast Monkeys)

I am so glad to hear how much you enjoy the game. It's a great honor to be compared to Plants vs. Zombies, that's one of my all time favorite games.

We're currently hard at work on more levels, as well as new game modes and other great features. So keep on the look out for coming updates. =)

Thank you so much for your review.
