Breaking news: Samsung Unpacked San Diego canned, no Ice Cream Sandwich or Nexus Prime next weekAfter the disappointment that was the iPhone 4S announcement this past Tuesday, we were even more so looking forward to directing our collective eyebeam at Ice Cream Sandwich and the Google Nexus Prime next week.

Alas, that ain’t happenin’ no more, as Pocket-lint reports that the event has been pulled. What the f…?

The Samsung Unpacked 2011 event was due to go down this coming Tuesday, October 11, and the industry was salivating at the prospect of meeting Ice Cream Sandwich – which boldly aims to unite Android smartphones and tablets – as well as the 4.65in Samsung-developed Nexus Prime.

But Pocket-lint has just received the following joint statement: "Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced."

There are suggestions that the event may have been postponed to avoid a clash with the funeral of awesome visionary Steve Jobs. If that is indeed the case, then hats off to Samsung and Google.

It seems reasonable to believe they perhaps didn't want to reveal new hardware and software the same day the founder of their biggest rival is laid to rest.

Hats off to them indeed if that's the reasoning. Despite the tit for tat legal battles, they're showing they have the decency to at least pause to pay respect to the man(If that truly is the reason for the delay).
