Best budget Android at the moment?

Is the Huawei Ascend G300 still regarded as the best budget Android at present?

Pretty much.

There is a bunch of things popping up on Amazon like this baby. Don't know if they are any good.

The big problem, it seems, with these Chinese no-name purchases (and I do admire the principle) is if something goes wrong. At least with a big-name manufacturer you know you have a two year guarantee, even second-hand.
I just bought my mum a Huawei for Xmas, and looking forward to tinkering with it.

Bit harsh to call them no name at this point I'd say. Quite easy to find tales of the more known manufacturers skipping out on their guarantees anyway.
So much going on in the market that I wouldn't be buying chrimbo phones yet myself

I've had no problem with phone repairs and guarantees ever, with Sony Ericsson to HTC (was a bit worried that they wouldn't touch my Desire HD as it was second hand).

Samsung have also assured me my phone has a guarantee (bought Grade A from smartfonestore, thanks to HUKD).

I'm not calling Huawei no-name, I think you misunderstood (I had a Huawei modem not too long ago, and have been aware of them for a while). I was referring to CTPAHHIK's link!!

Fair enough but I know Samsung skipped out on matt, and that was bought new, and seen complaints about the rest too.
Ah. Yep, must have. Ooops

STAR, AINOL and PIPO are well know now. Reading reviews it seems like PIPO M1 is better than Nexus 7.

Never heard of star and pipo. Arguably best thing about Nexus tablets is knowing it will get the updates fast

They did, good job I knew enough about tech. to fix it myself or I'd have been £50 down thanks to Samsung's rip off merchant repair place.

Can't argue with that. I think my next phone will be Nexus strictly due to timely updates.
