The jury’s still out on the much-discussed budget iPhone. Is it happening? Or just one of those oddly persistent rumours that never amounts to anything?
Giving very slight credence to the former notion is the latest budget iPhone leak, specifically a big bin full of iPhone 5C boxes. For serious.
iPhone 5C is one of the names touted for the budget iPhone, if it happens. It’s not like it’ll be hitting shelves as the “budget iPhone”, y’know? Funny though that’d be, with the iPhone 5S perhaps being renamed the “expensive iPhone”.
The iPhone 5C packaging bears more than a passing resemblance to previously used Apple packaging, but that’s not to say that makes it genuine. Heck, we are talking about China, after all.
The argument for the iPhone 5C slash budget iPhone is that it’d help Apple capture some of the entry-level market from Android. The iPhone 4 is more affordable than the iPhone 5, yes, but it’s hardly cheap.
The argument against points out that Apple is known for creating premium products, and what’s to gain from selling cheap phones for little profit anyway?
