It’s a tough life writing about mobile phones, and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. For example, this afternoon I’ve been tasked with playing around with a rather odd little Flash game hosted on YouTube.
In Nexus Contraptions, the goal is to build a Google Nexus S by, erm, guiding various balls representing Google apps into a series of red funnels. Obviously.
You have an array of objects to help your Google apps on their way to the funnels, including elastic bands, fans, bombs and magnets.
Completing the first series of levels yields the message: “Congratulations! Your Nexus S has Google Search right on the homescreen. Search what’s nearby, or by speaking to your phone, and get the best of the web in your pocket.” O… k.
Despite the shameless promotion of the smartphone, I can’t say Nexus Contraptions made me feel any more inclined to pick up a Nexus S. It’s an oddly enjoyable game though. Check it out.
