Will we need to buy new phones when 4G arrives?

Are existing phones compatible with 4G technology or will we have to buy 4G versions when 4G arrives?

Depends on what you're counting as "4G". If you mean true 4G (LTE), then you'll need a new phone if you want to access the 4G networks. If you count HSPA+ as 4G, as they do in the US, then no, you may not need a new phone. Obviously that depends on what phone you have at the moment though.
