I'm quite careful with my HTC Desire, but thinking about getting a screen protector. Would it make the touchscreen less sensitive?

I Bought my Desire when it was only just out. Screen protectors were few and far between but I promised myself i'd get round to getting one. within two weeks I dropped it and broke the screen, something I think may have been avoided if I had a screen protector. They're so cheap on Amazon and eBay that it's silly not to have one. And they have no effect on the sensitivity either.

I've never used a screen protector and don't have a single scratch on the screen. I'm a bit wary of screen protectors and haven't used one since my old iPod nano. Things may have changed since then but I didn't like how it dulled the colours and brightness slightly.
I use this case and it's been great for me.

Dont have screen protector. Was planning to get one, but after looking at old phone and the fact that there are no scratches on current one - I gave up on it. Don't think you can scratch it unless it's something that can cut glass and I doubt that anything will protect screen when dropped.
Pretty much any case will prevent screen hit when dropped because impact will be absorbed by screen edges. However, if there is a stone or anything else that hits screen and not it's edge nothing will save you.
