Is the camera on the iPhone 5 much better than the iPhone 4S?

I notice the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S cameras are both 8MP but are they the same?

They did something with the lenses (and possibly software), but the improvement isn't that great. Saying that, the iPhone 4S took great pictures anyway.

Camera is rather noticeably better. Ignore Matt - he's iPhobe! :p
Low-light is much better, video also, and overall shakiness has been reduced significantly.

It is essentially the same camera module, though, isn't it?

No, it's betterfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They added some hardware stabilizers and some extra lens, ... I think. But seriously, I don't care how they did it, it is noticeably better.
