Can I set calls to vibrate while emails/texts are silent on HTC Hero?

Unfortunately, vibrate and silent can’t be set independently; it’s not possible to set calls to vibrate on the Hero while emails/texts are on silent. You can toggle between modes by pressing and holding the End/Power button, but whichever you choose – silent or vibrate – applies globally i.e. to calls, emails and texts.

Yes you can have silent email alerts and vibrate phone (ringing) alerts -
enter email app,
press menu
then more,
settings,
notifications settings,
then choose your settings.
(tested on Legend)

Might be different on Hero and Legend though?

There's a free app I've got on my Hero which lets you do exactly that - its called audiomanager.
