Carphone Warehouse cuts BlackBerry PlayBook prices

Carphone Warehouse cuts BlackBerry PlayBook pricesIf you happen to be shopping around for a BlackBerry PlayBook this season, you could do a whole lot worse than checking out the prices on ye olde Carphone Warehouse.

In a cyberweb exclusive, Carphone Warehouse has taken an axe to BlackBerry PlayBook prices, and ultimately they now start at £224.10.

Carphone Warehouse doesn’t mention specifically when the sale will end, but notes that it’s for “a limited time only”. Here’s the BlackBerry PlayBook menu in full:

  • 16GB - £224.10 (save £174.90)
  • 32GB - £296.10 (save £182.90)
  • 64GB - £368.10 (save £190.90)

Interesting tactic there with the cheeky 10p. I’m sure there’s some marketing genius at work.

The BlackBerry PlayBook hasn’t fared too well, largely thanks to a seemingly rushed launch that saw the tablet released without an email client. Eek. Prices have been cut across the globe, and RIM recently gave away BlackBerry PlayBooks to enterprise peeps.

However, the BlackBerry PlayBook has entirely decent specs, including a 7in display, dual-core processor, and HDMI out capabilities for pumping content through your TV.

Chop another £25 off and I’ll think about it.

you can use currys price promise and get it 10% cheaper which would knock off £22.41

Hmmm, considering the Playbook is $199 in the USA, even taking into account VAT, this is still too expenisve. RIM need to align the pricing across the globe and go under £200 for a RRP if they want to appeal to buyers
