The new HTC One (M8) is being announced on March 25 at simultaneous launch events in London and New York – this we know already.
But a year after production issues caused the original One's actual availability to be delayed by weeks, today we hear you'll be able to buy the 2014 version within minutes.
Carphone Warehouse has today announced a series of HTC One (M8)-themed events at selected stores kicking off at 4pm on March 25, which it says is “just minutes after it is officially announced”.
The handsets themselves will reportedly be transported directly from the launch event to five London CPW branches – Westfield Stratford, Westfield White City, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Centrepoint – which will be hosting “entertainment and giveaways” ahead of giving customers their first chance to lay hands on the HTC One (M8).
A sixth venue – Carphone Warehouse in Selfridges – will also be stocking the M8 straight away but without any special celebrations to mark the occasion.
Carphone Warehouse also points out it'll be taking orders by phone around the country the same afternoon, while the 2014 HTC One will be available from all 770 branches around the country, and to order online, shortly afterwards.
That said, it's important to note this is Carphone Warehouse saying all this, not HTC itself. That's not to suggest you shouldn't believe it, but if there was to be a repeat of what happened last year, how much notice would CPW get of the whole thing? Just saying...
