How does a case improve the iPhone 4’s signal?

If the antenna is in the phone, how come a case is supposed to improve the signal? I really don't understand this.

The metal band around the edge of the iphone 4 is the antenna, by touching it in a certain place it can cause the signal to decrease, by having something covering it, it prevents you touching it and thus prevents the signal decreasing.

I Think Apple claims that iphone Distributed or sold after September 2010 don't have the signal problem.

BUT if you ever come across any problem with in 12 months. Just book a Genius bar appointment with apple and ask them to change it for you ( Well in most cases they change it without asking). Simple as that.

OR alternatively you can buy a BUMPER CASE or an an invisible shield on the front and back, and you will never face the problem with signal ever :)
