CES 2013: Acer announces sub-$150 7in Jelly Bean tablet

CES 2013: Acer announces sub-0 7in Jelly Bean tabletAcer is certainly no stranger to the tablet market, with something like 2,172 devices – both Android and Windows – on the market already.

They’re squeezing along to make room for #2,173, namely the Acer Iconia B1-A71, notable for its wallet-friendly price tag (and rubbish name).

The Acer Iconia B1-A71 was rumoured last month, and tipped to have a $99 asking price. Okay, it’s not that cheap, but “less than $150” is still pretty reasonable.

Of course, you get what you pay for, and as such Acer Iconia B1-A71 specs are suitably modest. Don’t expect a quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM here.

Instead, you’re looking at a 7in display (1024 x 600), 8GB internal storage (augmentable via microSD), 512MB of RAM, a dual-core Mediatek processor at 1.2GHz, and a front facing 0.3MP camera.

As for Acer Iconia B1-A71 pricing and availability, Acer says only that it’ll be available at under $150. No specific mention of the UK just yet. Bothered?

Meh, the extra few quid for a Nexus 7 seems to be a no-brainer.

Yeah only positive seems to be the micro sd but Samsung tab 2 has that covered and was about what that price will translate to before christmas anyway.

Phew... The shortage of 7-inch Android tabs was beginning to concern my disinterest.

If Nokia hadn't fallen on the ms bandwagon we might have seen colourful Nokia tablets based on improved and developed n9 style software, mind you they'd likely be wanting £450 for 7" tablet...

C'mon every tablet made now should be atleast 1GB RAM, this is just silly, i can buy a cheap no name tablet from China for >£100 and it would be rocking a 1GB RAM, and that display is a joke aswell. Acer don't even bother.

The Archos i bought from Tesco for £49, even at the full price of £99, is better than this. its got a 1.6GHZ Dual Core, 1GB RAM, 8" screen and a 1024 x 768 pixel display.

BTW that the Archos is releasing officially at the end of this month or February.

512MB RAM is what really concerns me. Acer should ship it with GB and integrated task killer.
