Well, try a different cable. Try that cable on a different iPhone.
Try cleaning the port with a DRY soft brush/toothbrush - and do the same on the connector.
IF you have good reason to think the port is damaged, say so - otherwise, I'd think it's dirty or the cable/charger is faulty.
Take it to a repair store where they can they can try another cable/charger and or clean the port...
