Cheap Android Phone?

Hi all,

I'm after fairly reasonable entry level budget Android handset for the Mrs...

The phone will be used mostly to make calls. Occasionally for browsing and most importantly able to run WhatsApp as this will also be used to send and receive a lot of pictures and short video messages. So able to take reasonable pictures would be ideal as well.

I have sort of narrowed it down to three different models - all unlocked:

1) LG Optimus L3 - £49.90 + £10 top up

Pay As You Go LG Optimus L3 Black - Great Mobile Phone Deals on Virgin Mobile Pay As You Go

2) Sony Xperia tipo - £69.90 + £10 top up

Pay As You Go Sony Xperia tipo - Great Mobile Phone Deals on Vodafone Pay As You Go

3) Samsung Galaxy Ace - £89.90 + £10 top up

Pay As You Go Samsung Galaxy Ace - Great Mobile Phone Deals on Vodafone Pay As You Go

Anyone recommend highly in any of the above? Which is the better or superior model? Also any other models to consider? Budget less than £100

Thanks in advance

Well worth a look is the Alcatel OT-983 Android phone.
1gig processor, loads of apps, lots of spec and all for just £39.99 including free delivery!!
Check it out at http://www.o2.co.uk buy online or in store.
I purchased one a week ago, quite impressive for the money.
Just lacks a "Posh" label.
Not happy with o2? Get it unlocked and choose another service provider.
Seasons greetings to all.

Narrow it even downer by scrapping the Ace. No other phone is that complained about here on Mobot and on other 'boards'...
Can't say anything about the other ones. But I'm not big on Android, anyways.

Tbh I'd say that was as much due to it selling a hell of a lot more than those others...

The Ace is the only phone there that I'd count as usable. The other two really are get what you pay for devices. How about a Huawei G300 for ~£100? That's supposed to be a very usable device.

Yes, you might have a point. It's a very popular entry device to Android smartism.
So, some of the reported 'malfunctions' are prolly just fumblings of the newbs?

Almost definitely. My dad's had his Galaxy W replaced with an Ace 2 and he claimed his internet was really slow all of a sudden. Turns out, he had the Wi-Fi turned off and only gets a 2G signal on O2 (what a surprise) in his house.

With an Arm 6 processor I don't really see it as much more than a back up phone now.
