Did anyone get a cheap HP TouchPad?!

32GB HP TouchPad is available for collection from Currys, but not in my area, argh!

Jan, I have no idea how to homebrew, is there some kind of root/jailbreak for WebOS? I feel like such a noob, it's like having to learn Android all over again :(. It is a great device and for 89 quid it's the bargain of the bloody century haha :D. Multitasking is soooo much better than iOS or my beloved Android. Not sure I'll put Android on my TouchPad even if it becomes a possibilty oO.

Yea, it was pretty easy to get one if you wanted one. There where tons available when they went on sale. Just add to basket and then checkout at six when the sale went live. I actually didn't pay until 6.20pm as i still couldn't decide if i wanted one. I only got the 16gb one though, might of been nice for the 32gb but then again why would you want that? not much apps to fill it with anyway and i won't be using it to watch movies.

Im...... not sure? I booked for collection one in my local Argos (they had two in stock) and it said I could pickup on thursday. But when I got the email from argos confirming my booking it said none in stock! Very confusing, and TBH Argos are still to reduce their prices!

Did not bother. Please share if this was actually true.

Managed to snag 1 from Best Buy when doors opened this morn. Had only 4-5 left and all gone by the time I got to exit door.
If you didn't get 1 last night or first thing this morn don't bother.

I got one, they're pretty under rated IMO. I'm using mine now, the keyboard is great and it's pretty damn fast, worth 89 quid. Might try and get a cheap Pre 3 now haha :D

Oh mine was from Carphone Warehouse ordered over the phone last night. Free next day delivery, not bad at all :).

Nice one, matt101101 :)
Now you need preware to get homebrewing ;)

Pretty impressive multitasking, methinks. That tweak that lets you minimise mplayer, and in cardview the movie keeps playing...wow!

Matt,
You need webOS Quickinstall on your PC. Google it ;)
Then you connect your touchpad to your PC in Developer mode. Check this thread for Dev Mode ==>> http://www.forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/288385-getting-homebrew-my-touchpad.html

While your pad is connected to your PC start Quickinstall, and use it to install Preware on your Touchpad. Preware is like a Homebrew appstore. Loadsa useful tweaks, apps, and patches.

You'll find all webOS info on Precentral!!!

Especially check if the mplayer port for webOS works on the Touchpad. Mplayer plays evry fr*gging format you throw at it. A must on the Pre!

Jan, I did some googling, I've installed Preware on my device and have it overclocked to 1.5ghz, it's pretty damn fast now, especially with all the other Preware tweaks I installed, might just be the best 89 quid I've ever spent on a piece of tech...or anything for that matter. XDA support the TouchPad surprisingly...though the main aim over there does seem to be installing android on it, which I have no intention of doing until a fully working Ice Cream Sandwich ROM is available which is months away from being reality.

Yeah, for 90 quid "wow" is appropriate :D

One of my friends is getting it from an employee purchase for £69, swine! :)
