Why are there no cheap/powerful 7" tablets with 3G?

The release and pricing of the iPad mini, along wih there still being a lot of focus on the Nexus 7 got me thinking.....

The 7" tablet range is crying out to come with a 3G data sim option, arguably more so than a standard 9-10" tablet as it is much more portable and so more likely to be carried out and about when you would need such a function. Why arent we seeing Tegra 3 3G compatable tablets out there? Surely someone can release a Tegra 3 tablet with 3G for less than £250?

yeah... why?
seems the 'relevant' customers all live/work/travel/eat near WiFi hotspots...

There is supposedly a 3g Nexus 7 likely next week.
I think that as with FM radio and video recording over 30 minutes such devices have higher import duties and there is the extra regulations hurdle to go through.
Current nexus 7 can be hooked up to some USB dongles although it's not an elegant solution.

Hadnt heard there might be a 3G Nexus7, that certainly would be an excellent device!

Like you say there are some solutions (hooking up to your phone or using a USB dongle) but TBH a tablet with a sim card will always be the best solution, especially with overseas travel where data sims are so easy to get in a lot of countries and it saves such a fortune in roaming fees

Lewis did mention it here, but was easy to miss

Was mentioned a while back too

Might not arrive of course though.

Well you can still use the overseas data sim in the usb at least

why is 3g built in even needed now? wifi hotspots are everywhere.
you can get mobile wifi devices, think the 3 mifi (great device) multiple different phones with hotspots.

There just isn't the need, to have a separate sim in a tablet, that and most 'tablets' are used around home, at work, in colleges / uni etc, and wifi access is more than likely available in all these places.

Well where do you want me to start? Reasons for having a 3g tablet are
It's easier than using a dongle/mifi
It's faster than using a dongle/mifI
Less devices to carry
Less devices to charge/run out of battery
Wifi hotspots usually cost money per use when you're out and about (or require a subscription with BT or the cloud to be able to use free)

How is it faster?
