The cheapest I can find the One S SIM Free (reliably) is £411.98 delivered from Handtec.co.uk
The cheapest I can find the One X SIM Free (reliably) is £489.99 delivered from Amazon.co.uk

That makes the One S £78.01 cheaper than the One X.

Both prices include VAT at 20%

The cheapest I can find the One X is £458 delivered from Kikatek.com

That makes the One S £46.02 cheaper than the One X....basically, buy the One X :p.

All figures include VAT at 20%

Why? The One S is a nicer size, slimmer and from what many sites have said, feels far nicer in the hand.

I'd already revised my: prices, maths and statement, before you posted :p.

But, in answer to your question, I think SLCD2 720p display of the One X will look far nicer than the PenTile SAMOLED qHD display of the One S. Also, the One X will get updates sooner as it's a flagship device and the One X will keep its value better as it won't be an "also ran" phone. That's not to say the One S isn't a good device, I just think the One X fulfils the criteria of a modern high-end smartphone more fully.

On a more specialised side-note, the aftermarket development community, XDA for example, are likely to be far more interested in the One X as it's HTC's flagship phone for 2012, whereas the One S is a mid-range device. To me that's am extremely important factor when buying a new device.

You clearly haven't seen how many ROMs are available for the Desire S then...

I've never paid the Desire S a jot of attention, in all honesty. It never appears in the "most posts in the past 24hrs" section on the right hand side of the XDA homepage (a list the ex-flagship Sensation rarely leaves).

I have a Desire HD and I WANT ONE (The One X, that is). But..big BUT, is I absolutely hate the idea of built-in memory. Seems like all the new phones are doing it now!!
I'm sure the Galaxy S3 (or whatever it will be) is worth a look, too..but I wish they'd allow MicroSD capability.
(Of course, I'm having problems with my Desire HD rebooting randomly, and that might well be *my* memory card playing funny buggers. Oh, the irony).

Has anyone looked at the Huawei Ascend D Quad XL. It blows the HTC one X out the water if you ask me. And its stock ICS. Its got all the features missing on the One X, plus more!

Its coming in a UK HSPA+ compatible version, and a UK 4G LTE Compatible version later this year. I can see it coming in around the same price as the HTC One X. I really want to get one.

The One X does have one massive advantage over the Huawei, it comes out in just under three weeks.

Brand name is higher profile too and their huge list of phones upgrading to ics can't hurt. Gives impression of support at least

Also, the Huawei's value will drop like a stone, the HTC will be worth far more when you come to sell it.

Unless 4g takes off big time maybe. Tbh I've never sold a phone on anyway.

matt101101 / MOD  Mar. 16, 2012 at 13:51

You've never sold a phone?! You've killed every phone you've owned?

Well only three have died I think, nokia 6210, 7110 (which I got years after they were forgotten but which was cool til the aerial snappped off lol), and a motorola L6. Still another L6 (got this one first much better quality than 2nd one but was looking bit tired and the new one looked cool in black), Sony k750i, nokia 5800, and parents had various other old ones. Had one stolen.

Use the 5800 as mobile wifi hotspot at times, taken the Sony on few nights at as no great loss if it gets lost and fairly decent camera even now.

Thinking on 4g does this mean there's no big auction for it like there was for 3g?

The Sensation section covers two products though, vanilla and XE! So it's to be expected that it's got more development posts that the Desire S has. :)

Personally, I do think the HTC One X is going to be the best phone around, although I admit I have a slight bias to HTC Sense. Never a fan of the me-too Galaxy S range which lacks the personality of HTC phones.
