Nice deal, but the Moto G is not the cheapest
4G phone. Deal or no deal...
Google the question, and you'll find various cheaper options on the 1st results page.

I think there is a balance between cheap and value, and the Moto G is definitely the best bang for the buck right now when it comes to 4G phones, if you are looking for something absolutely cheaper for sure there are other options, but you would definitely be taking a hit. I am waiting for more Android One phones to roll out, there like the Moto G you can at least expect something good, for around £100 pounds.

You can find a Lumia 635 for a lot less, and some people do not
like Android. Or they don't want a giant slab.

The moto G is a much better phone then the Lumia 635. I will totally avoid Android vs Windows phone because I think that will come down to preference, but the screen on the moto g, the processor, more ram is going to make the Moto G feel like it is in a different class of phone.

If someone on a really tight budget and considers going for Lumia 635 there is no need for 4G connectivity. Most of the features will work on 2G network and browsing can be done using 3G. I don't think 4G will give any advantage, unless there is a plan to Skype (or using any other data calling) a lot.

Moto G is able to do everything that any flagship phone can. Camera aside there is no advantage of having Galaxy S5 vs. Moto G for everyday use.

Xiaomi is known as the Apple of China. They have overtaken Samsung in China regarding market share. They produce Android phones of good build quality at one third Apple prices. They have just unveiled the Mi 5.
They are a private concern valued at $ 45 billion. They infringe many other companies patents.
The only smart phone that I have is a Huawei Y300 which can now be bought for sub £50.
My phone was imported from China & I had to do a custom install of KitKat 4.4 to make it useable.
