That aside? A 2nd hand Z/Z1? Although the Z is only water-resistant, isn't it?
Maybe a better, cheaper option would be one of those rugged waterproof 'builders' phones for wet moments?

You can get a Motorola Defy+ from CEXfor around £50-£60
Still a pretty good phone in my opinion. I have one as a backup phone.

From China you can get the Haier W718 for less than £60, downsides are fixed focus camera and you have to install a custom rom if you want Google Play Store.

The Defy+ is only 'splash-proof', isn't it?

The Defy+ is only 'splash-proof', isn't it?

It's IP67
First Digit means how Dust Resistant (6 is the highest)
Second is Water Resistance. 7 means it can be immersed in water up to 1m for 30 Minutes.

Motorola only advertised it as Splash-proof to cover themselves, the Rubber covers become looser over time, so they didn't want people accidentally damaging their phones then suing them.
Mine has been fully immersed in water many times.

Think the Xperia Z/Z1 have 8 against water but state
Covers must be shut. Only in fresh water up to 1.5 m for 30 minutes so you're just getting an extra 50cm against the Defy.
