China-bound HTC 606w takes design cue from HTC One, lowers specs

China-bound HTC 606w takes design cue from HTC One, lowers specsMan, I’m fast losing track of HTC’s output this year. Recently I’ve penned HTC Desire Q = HTC Desire U = single-core HTC Desire X and HTC M4 = HTC First – Facebook Home + UltraPixels, not to mention HTC 603e pops up in China, some sort of One SU successor/variant?

We’re hearing of yet another phone from the Taiwanese manufacturer, this time the China-bound HTC 606w.

I mentioned the HTC One in the headline; the HTC 606w also borrows from the HTC One SU.

In particular, you’ll find HTC One-style stereo speakers on the front of the HTC 606w, while the back resembles the HTC One SU – particularly the slightly unorthodox-looking camera.

The HTC 606w spec sheet is a mixed bag. I’m not sure if we should be commending HTC for churning out something that isn’t a variant of an existing phone, or questioning why the HTC 606w exists in the first place. My head hurts.

In any case, HTC 606w specs include a 4.5in display (960 x 540), quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, 1.6MP front-facing shooter, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.2) and a microSD slot.

On the plus side, the only current HTC phones you really need to remember for any UK-based quiz are the HTC One, HTC Desire X and HTC Desire C. Oh, and the HTC First Facebook phone.
