Do Chinese 4G phones work on UK 4G bands?

Say I imported a Chinese 4G phone, would it work on UK 4G networks?

What phone were you thinking of getting? They should mostly work, as long as they operate on LTE bands 1 (800Mhz), 3 (1800Mhz), and 7 (2600Mhz). Most of the chinese phones in this writeup will work with LTE in the UK (if you get the right version).

Thanks Dev! I haven't narrowed it down just yet, but starting to take note of phones that we can't get here, like Xiaomi Mi 4, Meizu MX4...

Band 7 is 2600MHz

Most of them will support 3 & 7 which is EE & 3 only but a lot of the newer ones have support for Band 1 now.

Mi4 and MX4 both only work on EE/3

My favorite site to order from now have a warehouse in Spain to ship orders without any customs/VAT worries. They have the MX4 there. You can add $2.99 to the order for local return service if anything goes wrong

You need to make sure its FDD-LTE and WCDMA (which is like GSM/WCDMA (2G/3G ) and is used in most places in the world). Some phones are TD-LTE and TD-CMA/CDMA2000, which is only really used in China and some American operators and not in Europe.

There's a write-up at chinesephonesuk.co.uk/all-about-uk-4g-bandsfrequencies/ that has loads of information. You can search by network and see what phones are compatible.

Will the HTC one m9+ work in the uk?

joemarshalljm  Jul. 7, 2015 at 11:52

the HTC One m9 looks like it has all the UK 4G bands aside from the one 02 uses. If you just want 3G data it'll be fine on all networks, but if you want 4G it'd be best to stay clear of O2.

It'll work for calls and texts on all UK networks
