Classy LG, really classyI'll admit I took a slightly critical angle on reporting Apple marketing boss Phil Schiller's criticism of Android and Samsung earlier today.

But now I take it back – because at least he actually had a point to make. LG, on the other hand, has just indulged in a hackneyed piece of corporate trolling in its own bid to detract attention from the Samsung Galaxy S IV launch.

Yep, the pic you're looking at is an actual billboard LG has set up in Times Square to specifically leech attention away from Samsung's own ad below for the Galaxy S IV launch.

Centred around the number “4” used by Samsung to plug the GS4 launch, LG's considered response reads “LG Optimus G is here 4 you now”, and is situated directly above Samsung's own promotional ad, the one we've been looking at for a while now telling us to “be ready 4 the next galaxy”.

To cut LG a little slack, it has apparently occupied those billboards for 20 years now, so when Samsung camped out below possibly the temptation was just too great.

But it could surely have done something a bit more imaginative with a chance it's unlikely to get again.

May be not comparable but let's not forget Samsung's previous TV ads taking a pop at iPhone owners... although this was part of their own product launch and not timed with the launch of iPhone
