Closing active programs on iPad 2 (Tip)

I learned something at the Apple genius bar this morning, something I didn't know about my iPad 2. You know when you double tap the home button and a bar appears at the bottom of the screen, showing icons of apps? Well, I always thought that this was just a list of the most recently used apps, but apparently it is a list of apps that are actually open.

When the genius dude checked my iPad 2, practically every app I had ever downloaded was open in there, perhaps slowing down performance.

So here's the tip: When in that bottom menu (after double tapping home), hold your finger on the open apps, and simply press the X to close them.

Wow! This also applies to me;all the programs I'd opened on my iPad stayed open until I read this post. Thanks a lot.

Well, most of those apps do not actually stay "open" as in "stay actively running"...they use little to no resources. But, yes - every little counts, so closing them helps. But when you feel your iPad's getting sluggish nothing beats a reboot. It closes all apps properly and "resets" the RAM.
