Colossal Huawei Ascend Mate gets not-so-colossal price tag

Colossal Huawei Ascend Mate gets not-so-colossal price tagAt 6.1in, the Huawei Ascend Mate is one of the largest of the current range of smartphone/tablet hybrids – or “phablets”, if you prefer.

There was no word on Huawei Ascend Mate price when it launched at CES 2013, but one particular Chinese etailer is accepting preorders for a surprisingly reasonable amount.

Specifically, Liaow Meizu Shop will sell you a Huawei Ascend Mate for just $575 (US dollars).

That’s roughly £365, though needless to say that figure would/will creep up a bit if/when the Huawei Ascend Mate reaches the UK.

Huawei Ascend Mate specs include the aforementioned 6.1in display (720 x 1280), a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage (with microSD support).

The Huawei Ascend Mate will ship with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), while the camera weighs in at 8MP rear and 1MP front.

For our money, one of the sexiest things about the Huawei Ascend Mate is its gargantuan 4,050mAh battery. Huawei promises two days’ use on a single charge. Oh baby.

What do you think, peeps? Would you be interested in the Huawei Ascend Mate if it reached the UK? Let’s say… £400? Or is it too big for your wee paws?

Why not add an extra GB of RAM?

Dont think its worth £400 or maybe its worth £400 but you can get better for a little more money

Good point, by the time it reaches UK Galaxy Note 2 will be £400, why bother with Whoau?

I really like the look and sound of this. If it was £350 I would almost certainly buy one. Much more than that I would um and ar and probably not buy it. Wish it was double SIM though. They do appear to make a double SIM version if you don't mind buying direct from China. I have been waiting months to buy a Huawei phone. I was waiting for the Ascend G330 but think it's not good value like the G330 was. Then decided to wait for the G600, but it's impossible to get any solid information on UK availability. Now I prefer the Ascend Mate, but I guess I could be waiting several more months with possibility of finding it's too expensive.

This isn't official pricing at all (for the west) so i doubt it'll be close to that price. Could be much more, could be lower.

Read review for Oppo Find 5. Besides screen real estate Oppo seems to be beating Ascend in every category and it's in the same price range.
Has to be in £300 - £350 range to sell.
