Accessory manufacturer Proporta recently teamed up with the London College of Fashion, for a competition in which design students scrapped over £1,000 and the right to have their, um, creations brought to market.
I’m hardly on the cutting edge of fashion (currently wearing shorts and a faded four-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers t-shirt), but even I was stunned when I saw the victor.
Anne Ten Have has combined three of the greatest items in upper body wear, with a product that’s part leather jacket, part waistcoat and part hoody. Fantastic.
Best of all, it has a compartment on the inside for your iPad. As if a simple leather hoody waistcoat wasn’t awesome enough. There also appears to be some sort of flap to protect the screen.
Lady Ten Have also designed a “stylish” handbag that doubles as a stand.
Jane Francis, senior lecturer at LCF, says: “The cross-over between fashion design and technology innovation is an exciting growth area within accessories, making the project particularly relevant.”
